The Beginning [2030 - 2035]
As the year 2030 rolled around, the humans of Earth were down to their last nonrenewable resources. The coal had been wiped from the surface of the planet, and oil was quickly dwindling. Various world leaders stressed about the possible loss of power in their countries, and they quickly turned to violence to solve their problems. Hostility between the world’s great powers was escalating as prices shot up for the remaining traces of oil. The largest of the world’s oil consumers threatened each other severely, preparing for what they knew would likely be a nuclear Holocaust. 2035 finally arrived, and the oil had been sapped from the planet, leaving most of the countries without alternative fuel sources without power or light. Each country blamed the other for their problems, and soon, later in the year, America, Russia, the United Kingdom, France, Israel, China, India, and South Africa prepared their remaining weapons: the nukes. As the bombs made impact on various places of the continent, the wolves realized that something was up. In a last effort to survive, they ran for the hills, keeping away from humans as much as possible. Once all the nuclear weapons had been used up, less than one million humans remained on the planet, grasping to life as desperately as possible.
The Cold [2035 - 2207]
For what little humans survived the attack, there were no homes, no food, and no light. The atmosphere was thick with ash and dirt that had been stirred up during the attacks, blocking out the sun. To make matters worse, the air was soaked in radiation, leaving little chance of survival for human-kind. The last of the humans gradually died off, and the earth, as a last desperate attempt to save itself from the turmoil, dropped into a second Ice Age. The temperatures sunk rapidly, killing off plants and many warm weather animals instantly. After two years of freezing temperatures, signs of the atmosphere clearing were visible. Holes in the dusty clouds let bits of light stream in, raising the planets temperature slowly but surely. Over a few months, the sky cleared rapidly, exposed a desolate, barren planet devoid of much life. The plant spores had remained deep in the earth’s crust, awaiting a time when the weather would not be so cruel to them. The humans had vanished, and what animals had survived the weather lived off the remains of those animals that could not maintain their existence in such desperate times. Even a few herbivores managed to survive, leaving a basis for the planet to heal over time.
Earth Heals [2207 - 2507]
During the earth’s “cleaning” process, many of the weak, struggling species had been wiped from the planet. Only the must rugged of animals remained, leaving a strong beginning for the planet to heal. The plant spores stretched to the surface, leaving small, leafy sprigs as a sign of their contribution. Other animals, like the bison, deer, wolves, , cougars, and rabbits, gradually made their presence known to each other. The balance of the earth’s ecosystem was slowly realigning itself. Over the next few years, more species began to emerge from their hiding places, as the trees and brush stretched higher and higher. There was food for the herbivores, meat for the carnivores, and there were no humans trying to wipe them out. They spread rapidly, repopulating the earth in mass numbers. Other species, like the bears, appeared from their prolonged winter sleep, starving and ready to find some food. Pieces fell into place, and over the next couple hundreds of years, the earth finally found a sense of balance that had not been achieved while humans still inhabited the planet. It was on its way to a new era.
However, near the end of this time stretch, the sea began revolting against progress. Massive rocks fell from the sky, creating large tidal waves that rumbled towards the shore. Riptides were more frequent, and they swept many animals out to sea. Where they were going, none of them knew, but they would soon find out…
Arvandor, A new paradise [2507 - Present]
The rebel waves gently washed against a new continent. Hundreds of animals washed up on the shore of this landmass, all taken from the sea in one area of the planet or another. Over the past thousand years, the eruption of undersea volcanoes slowly formed a new landmass, unknown to the animals of the world. It seemed the sea was hoping to leave this place as a home for the animals, a place that had only briefly been touched by humankind. The traces of humans were not harmful, which meant this was an excellent place for the animals to start over again. It seemed that this was to be their new home. Huge mountain ranges, deep caverns, towering forests, and raging rivers were there at their disposal. The land stretched as far as the eye could see, and much further than that s well. The deer, bison, foxes, bears, and other animals all quickly settled into their new surrounds. The wolves, however, took the change in strides. They explored the land slowly, from the scorching lands of Bandor to the frosty Heleg Plateau and everything in between. This would be their new home. They would flourish here, and leave all the thoughts of their ancestor’s struggles, the human wars, and hard times behind them. This was their new paradise, Arvandor.
