-->> Creating and Original Character

Your character is the most important part of roleplaying in Arvandor. How you shape your wolf's personality, appearance, and past will determine your wolf's actions, friends, and other important characteristics within your writing. Here, you will be walked through the creation form to show exactly how you can set up a quality biography for your wolf.

General

* Full Name: The name of your wolf must be elven. This is not necessarily what your wolf must be called, but it is a requirement for the site. There are name generators and lists of elvish names and words all over the internet. Here are a few:

Examples of Acceptable Names:
Nienna Arfeiniel (female)
Elrohir Lúinwë (male)

Examples of Unacceptable Names: (and why not)
Dark Shadow - This wolf name is not elvish. The only acceptable names are Elvish names.

Kelsey - This name is not elvish as well as not having a last name. If your wolf doesn't have a last name (ex. Angrod), then your wolf, when accepted to a pack, will take the last name of the Alpha.

Once you have selected your character's name, you may continue to the rest of the form for your wolf.

* Call Name: Your wolf's call name is what other roleplayers call your wolf. If your wolf's name is, for example, Gilraen Ancalímon, your wolf may be called something along the lines of Gil, Rae, or even just Gilraen. You could also be called by a portion of your wolf's last name, such as Anca, Cali, or Imon. The Call name is generally a shortened version of your wolf's full name, but there are some cases when it is not. If, in your past, your wolf's parents gave them a nickname, this could also be used. Say Gilraen Ancalímon's parents called her Indy or Nia, this could be used if specified in your history.

* Gender: This section is mostly self-explanatory. Your wolf is either going to be female (a Femme) or male (a Brute). You may wish to decide this before selecting your character's name, as there are different names for each gender.

* Date of Birth: Your date of birth specifies when your wolf was born. Each wolf in Arvandor must have a birthdate containing a day, month, and year. The current year is 2508, so your wolf must be born before this date. Here are a few examples of how to set up your birthdate:

Your wolf's birthday: March 3, 2506
The set-up: 03/3/2506

Your wolf's birthday: December 16, 2504
The set-up: 16/12/2504

Your wolf's birthday must be set up in a Day/Month/Year format, also shown as DD/MM/YYYY on the form.

* Breed: There are many breeds of wolves available in Arvandor. Under "Wolves" on the main page, you can find a list of available breeds in Arvandor. Select your wolf's breed wisely. The breed of wolf determines:

Where your wolf can live

The color of your wolf's coat/eyes

Size of Wolf

There are also other things affected by your wolf's breed. Before selecting one, be sure that you are comfortable with each attribute of the breed.

* Sexual Orientation: In Arvandor, same sex relationships between wolves are allowed. You can decide whether your wolf is Straight (likes wolves of opposite sex), Bi-Sexual (likes both male and female wolves), or Gay (likes same sex wolves) Appearance; * Height: Each breed of wolf in Arvandor has height limits. On the page that describes each wolf breed, there is a range of height for each wolf. Your wolf's size must fall within this range. Example:

Tundra Wolves
27 - 35 inches

If you chose a tundra wolf, your wolf's height must fall within this range.

* Main Coat Colors: For each breed, there are different coat colors available. Here are a few examples:

Tundra Wolves
Main coat colors: White, Grey or Brown

Mackenzie Valley Wolves
Main coat colors: Black, Grey or Silver

When you select a breed of wolf, each one has different coat colors. You must select one of these colors to be the majority of your wolf's coat. You could also have a mixture of the two, having, say, your wolf's main coat color be White and Grey, or Grey and Brown if you used a tundra wolf.

* Secondary Coat Colors: Once you have selected your wolf's main coat colors, there are also secondary colors that you can choose from. These are not necessary, but some people may choose to distinguish their wolves from other's wolves by personalizing their character even further. Examples:

Russian Wolves
Secondry coat colors: White, Gold or Red

Novac Wolves
Secondry coat colors: Blue

These colors are not dominant in your coat, rather, distributed throughout the fur. They set your character apart from others, and they may help draw attention to your wolf.

* Markings: Your wolf may have some other distinguishing features other than their coat. Some may be natural, others may be un-natural. Natural markings could include things such as a claw mark across the eye or a scar on a rear leg. Un-natural markings could be designs, such as stars, beneath the eye, or a vivid pattern across the back. These un-natural markings are only available to your later characters and extras. They may also be given to your character in a contest or from a random event.

* Coat Length: Another part of your wolf's appearance includes the length of your coat. Here you can put that your coat is of short, medium, or long length all throughout, longer in one area than another, or shaggy in a portion.

* Eye Color: Depending on the type of wolf you have chosen, you must select the color of your wolf's eyes. Each breed has a few designated to it, and you must choose the color based on these limits. You can also have odd-eyed wolves, wolves with different colored eyes. This must also fall within the limits and needs to be shown on your image, so you must think of this before deciding.

Personal;

* History: Your history is one of the most important pieces of your biography. This shows how your wolf has lived their life thusfar before arriving in Arvandor. Your history must be at least 100 words at beginner level, and it must be 250 words plus 100 words for each year old your wolf is for the intermediate/advanced roleplay. When shaping your history, there are some questions you can use to help you out:

How many pups were in the litter with your wolf?
What were your parents' names?
Did you live in a pack?
Did you have any problems with other wolves in your pack?
How was your wolf ranked in the pack? (auxiliary, delta, scout, etc)
When did your wolf decide to leave their old pack?
Did your wolf have an old mate or love interest?
Who were your wolf's friends?
Has your wolf done anything that they've regretted?
Is your wolf good at any particular skills? (hunting, medicine, fighting, etc)
Did you have any physical problems that affected your well-being?
How did you get to Arvandor? NOTE: This must be via the sea. You could be sucked under by a riptide and washed up on the coast, swept here by a tidal wave, etc. It must be by the sea.

Once you've written your history, there are a few things you need to check.

Is it written in third person? (No I's, me's, etc)
Is it long enough? There is a word counter down by the Cbox to ensure that your history is long enough. If it is not, you need to add more.

* Personality: Your wolf's personality is a basic outline of their overall actions. Here you can tell how your wolf reacts to others, how they act in specific situations, or what makes them who they are. This distinguishes your wolf, making them an individual, not just one more boring wolf. A few questions that your personality may answer:

Is your wolf shy or outgoing?
How does your wolf like to spend their time?
Does your wolf have any likes? Dislikes?
Does your wolf have any special skills that defines them?
How does your wolf react to pups? Other wolves?
Is there anything your wolf doesn't like to talk about?

* Image;

Your image is an important part of your biography. This is a picture that must show any scars or irregularities in your wolf's features. The image cannot be any larger than 500 x 400 pixels in size. Be sure your image shows the right:

Eye Color

Coat Color

Scars/Markings

Here is an example to show some appropriate things to be shown on your image. Be sure that your image doesn't have any extreme markings or overbearing colors, as depicted here.

Remember, there are members on the site that will make you an image if you ask nicely and give a proper description!
